The Podium
Behind Every Candidate...
Who is behind David Crowley's "breakout year"

By Chris Seelbach
Guest Columnist

“David Crowley is the kind of reasonable, experienced voice that we need on City Council. He helps fix problems instead of causing them.” That is the most common response people give when asked why they support David Crowley. David Crowley is not the flashy, headline grabbing politician like some of his colleagues, but he is often the deciding vote on Council and works hard, often behind the scenes, on many important issues affecting our City. Enquirer Columnist Greg Korte reported on his new blog that “ Crowley is having a breakout year.” Korte based this comment on a number of exciting happenings in the Crowley campaign, including:

1) Crowley was the first incumbent candidate to submit 500 certified signatures to the board of elections.

2) Crowley had the biggest increase of financial donations when comparing how much he raised as of June 2003 and June 2005, a whopping 248% increase!

3) More significant than the amount of money contributed to Crowley’s 2005 campaign, as of June 30, Crowley had received 636 individual contributions, more than any other City Council candidate in the entire election.

4) Rich Gatto, the former Southwest field director for the John Kerry campaign, flew to Cincinnati from Massachusetts to host an event for David Crowley in Mt. Adams. Many former Kerry supporters attended, including local field director Patrick Foster.

5) The Crowley team has been seen as Church festivals across the City, recently at St. Mary’s in Hyde Park and St. Williams in Price Hill. A prominent David Pepper for Mayor staff member noted that “the Crowley team was winning the t-shirt battle” by having the most volunteers at many church festivals.

David has over the years consistently proven his commitment to Cincinnatians, always demonstrating careful judgment, compassion, and the wisdom of experience. Stephanie Hackett

I support David because he has the wisdom of age and experience and a good heart that
can be depended on to demand justice and equality for everyone. Kathy Helmbock

David stands up for what he believes in and fights for equal rights for all. Katie Lax

Dave is a straight shooter.. no pretenses.  He follows his gut feeling about issues... not the polling numbers. Brewster Rhodes

David cares more about helping Cincinnati than being quoted in newspapers or on television. Chris Seelbach

I support David Crowley because he doesn't have a hidden agenda. Chris Wagel
