Behind Every Candidate...
By The Winburn Campaign Staff
Guest Columnist
- What place is the candidacy in right now? Are you gathering signatures, doing direct mailing? Fundraising? Canvassing?
The Winburn Campaign is preparing for the September 13 primary for Mayor. The campaign is doing direct mailing daily and canvassing at least two days a week. We go door-to-door with our volunteers and have a listening bus tour where we go to local areas and hand out literature and Charlie walks around and listens to the people of the area to find out their primary concerns.

- What is the candidate’s relationship with the staff? What kind of people is he/she drawing. Are they financially savvy, people persons…?
Charlie Winburn draws a very eclectic crowd of people who believe in what he stands for. We range in age, sex, and ethnicity. His staff comes from all sorts of financial situations. The staff has one thing in common and that is we all want a better Cincinnati and believe Charlie Winburn is the man who can make that happen.
- What are some city issues that seem to be talked about overwhelmingly with the staff and the candidate?
The main issue that is constantly talked about is the issue of crime. Cincinnati’s homicide rate leads all the major cities in Ohio. Crime prevention will be the top priority for the future Winburn Administration. Something has to be done about crime before anything else can get better in Cincinnati. City-wide improvement depends on safe streets and safe neighborhoods. |
- What organizations and issues do the staff/ volunteers seem to identify with the most.
Everyone seems to agree that there needs to be a change in Cincinnati and the staff and volunteers all feel that Charlie Winburn is the change that needs to occur. He wants to increase police presence by hiring 200 new offices and support pro-active police tactics that target street crime and stronger enforcement of anti-drug loitering and ordinances.
- Why does the candidate deserve one of those nine seats in the opinion of the guest columnist? It can be personal…
Charlie Winburn has good ideas and a great character. He has zero tolerance on crime and he has the policies that are needed to make Cincinnati a great place to raise families. Charlie Winburn also has what it takes to bring citizens and cops together to present a united front that will not tolerate crime. Our police need to feel that they are supported by the Mayor and under Charlie they will always feel his support. He has a proven track record of getting thins done and that is just what Cincinnati needs.
